When All Else Lets You Down

God’s Grace:  I was 25 when my life fell apart.  I knew God and I knew the answers to the questions, how are you saved, but Christ was not Lord of my life.  I learned by failure; I had to put my trust in Jesus Christ and nothing else.  All else would let me down: people, relationships, “additions” to make me feel better, but they were never lasting and left me feeling more empty.

It was not until the true answer of what happens when you die was answered, “heaven was real and not a fairy tale.”  Christmas and Easter are real and not a time to go to church to “make you feel better”.  The Bible is real, all else is vanishing.  Living for Jesus is all that matters now.  (Rom. 12:2,  Gal. 2:20,  I Tim. 6:12, and when I die, 2 Tim. 4:7)

Forgiveness has played a major role in living and loving as 1 Corinthians 13 … been living this way since 25, married at 30 and four children.

Amongst the miracle of birth, it seems, two homes have been sold by God this way.  Once we had taken our house off the market after 6 months of no success.  The contract with the realtor was up, but the sign remained in the yard a few extra days.  A random passerby stopped, looked at the  house on a Saturday morning … four kids, a mess and it sold for the asking price.

My mother-in-law moved in with us because she was dying of cancer.  Never thought we could do that, but my wife Colleen was amazing, as were my children.  We look back ow and can only see God’s grace is truly sufficient.

Another time, we had to move my mom and sell her home.  Her home was a mess, not bad, but a mess.  On the way down to Alabama to get her, one of mom’s friends who had been helping her called.  Some friends of a friend wanted to look at the house.  They bought the house without using a realtor, and we made more money.  The house was never really on the market.

I currently changed careers at 51, not in a Christian organization, but am working around four other believers, different denominations, same faith REALLY BLESSED, all kids doing well, oldest is married and had our first grand child, healthy.  Again really blessed.
